What Causes Floor Tenting?

Have you ever wondered what Floor Tenting is? Tenting occurs when the concrete substrate shrinks in its curing process, so that it pulls the tiles closer together, and as they run out of surface area, are caused to “tent.” The place of least resistance, between the adhesive and the tile, is where the tile comes away from the adhesive. This often results in “tenting” where tiles rise up and sound hollow which is certainly not what you want.
